Host: Hello, Victoria. This is The Not A Lawyer podcast, and this is the trailer. One thing before we start. Everything on this show is general information. It is not legal advice.
Host: Also, I am not a lawyer. We put it in the name so nobody could miss it.
What this is
Host: You know the moment. An email from the real estate agent that you read three times. A meeting with your manager that ends with "we will be letting you go". An envelope from the council in Geelong that is definitely not a birthday card.
Host: Each episode will take one moment like that and slow it down. What it usually means. What you can do this week. Who can help, without it costing a cent.
Why Victoria gets its own show
Host: This show started in Queensland. But the law changes when you cross a state line. Renting works differently. So do fines, and courts, and the forms you fill in.
Host: So the Victorian episodes are being made for Victoria, with a lawyer who works here, answering the things you would actually ask. You will hear "usually" and "it depends" a fair bit. That is not dodging. That is being accurate.
Until then
Host: If you need help now, Victoria Legal Aid is free. Their number is 1300 792 387.
Host: If you are in danger, call triple zero.
Host: The Not A Lawyer podcast, Victoria. Coming soon. Bring a coffee.
