Privacy
The short version: you do not need to give your name, and nothing goes to a lawyer unless you agree.
DraftThis privacy policy has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet. It is general information about Queensland law, not legal advice.
What you type
- You do not have to give your name to use Not A Lawyer. Please leave names and contact details out of what you type.
- What you type is not sent to a lawyer unless you ask us to pass it on, and only after you have seen exactly what would be sent and agreed.
- While the chat is a preview, nothing you type into it leaves your browser.
What we measure
To know whether the site is helping, we count things like which pages are read, which topics people start from and whether a guide is read to the end. We do this without cookies and without storing anything on your device.
- We never record what you type into the search box or the chat.
- We do not record your screen or your mouse movements.
- If your browser asks sites not to track you (Do Not Track), we do not measure your visit at all.
Links to other services
Guides link to government and community services. When you follow a link, that service's own privacy policy applies.
