<description>The opening of episode one: what a Queensland notice to leave (Form 12) is, what the handover day means, and why the notice on its own is not an eviction.

A notice to leave (Form 12) is how a lessor, or their agent, says they want the tenancy to end.
It sets out a handover day and a reason. It does not end the tenancy by itself.
It is the first step, not an eviction. Only QCAT can order you out, and only if the lessor applies.
Nobody, not the lessor and not the agent, may remove you or lock you out themselves.
Written guide, with the reasons a lessor can use and what to do next: notalawyer.com.au/guides/where-i-live/a-notice-to-leave/

<description>A two minute introduction to The Not A Lawyer podcast: plain-English Queensland situations, a Queensland lawyer to explain them, and why we say we are not lawyers.

What the show is: one plain-English situation per episode, for people in Queensland.
Every episode is general information about Queensland law, not legal advice.
Episodes 1 to 3: a notice to leave, being sacked, and a fine.
Written transcripts of every episode are on notalawyer.com.au.
In an emergency, call triple zero.
